June 2008 Staff Member of the Month

G.V.M.H. STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Golden Valley Memorial Hospital recently announced that Sandra J. Sorbo is G.V.M.H. Staff Member of the Month for June 2008.  Sandra has been an employee of Golden Valley Memorial Hospital October 1, 1978, to September 25, 1987 and was rehired on November 4, 1991.  She presently is a Section Supervisor in the Laboratory.   

A fellow employee nominated Sandra and had the following to say about her:
“Sandie has been at GVMH for 31 years.  She is very hard working.  We have been very short handed and Sandie has filled in where she was needed.  She only works part time, but we had some employees that were on vacation plus we were short and Sandie worked about two weeks straight now.  She is in so much pain with her back and hip, and she still comes in every day with no complaints.

We have been short handed and she is there to lend a hand.  Sandie never has a bad word to say and she always has a positive attitude.
Sandie takes care of our lab fund.  She makes sure that when someone needs flowers or when thee is a special occasion she takes care of that.

Sandie has been a member of the Board of Truman Lake Community Foundation for many years and she is has served as President for the last two years.  She is a member of the Presbyterian Church.”

In being named Staff Member of the Month, Sandra was given a corsage, a $100.00 gift certificate, and a special parking place for the month.  Her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital.  Sandra is also one of twelve finalists for the 2008-2009 Staff Member of the Year award.
