G.V.M.H. STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Golden Valley Memorial Hospital recently announced that Jennifer A. Nylund is G.V.M.H. Staff Member of the Month for May 2008.  Jenn has been an employee of Golden Valley Memorial Hospital since July 19, 2004.  She presently is an Exercise Specialist, Rehab & Wellness. 

A fellow employee nominated Jenn and had the following to say about her:
“Jenn has been employed with GVMH for four years.  In that time she has worked as an Exercise Specialist.  She began working at the Wellness Center, and then merged with the Rehab department.  She currently expands her services to reach the GVMH Cardiac Rehab department, Warsaw Cardiac Rehab, Windsor Wellness, and Clinton Community Center.  She also coordinated wellness screenings for local employers as well as providing personal training sessions after hours when necessary.
 
Jenn has also worked to develop the necessary warm-up exercises for Cardiac Rehab patients to ensure safe exercising.  She had a vital role in developing and establishing a successful Cardiac Rehab in Warsaw.  She doesn’t hesitate to fill in scheduling holes at the Windsor Wellness Center.

Jenn is always pleasant and caring toward her patients and their families.  She sees the value in education for living a healthy lifestyle, but can add humor into her interaction with patients to make them feel at ease with their therapy.

Jenn does not complain about the odd hours or multiple locations that she works.  She sees the need and importance for community wellness and enjoys sharing her expertise to help people.

Jenn has worked on numerous charitable organizations and volunteer services including health screenings at the Heart Walk, and serving on a team at the Diabetes Walk.  She also represents GVMH by providing screenings or community education at local health fairs and Old Glory Days.  She has provided exercise programs for children at local schools and helped with Finish Line activities at the Girls on the Run 5k, not to mention numerous guest speeches for local clubs regarding community health.”

In being named Staff Member of the Month, Jennifer Nylund was given a corsage, a $100.00 gift certificate, and a special parking place for the month.  Her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital.  Jenn is also one of twelve finalists for the 2008-2009 Staff Member of the Year award.
