NEWS RELEASE - May 2009

G.V.M.H. STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Golden Valley Memorial Hospital recently announced that Sherry Loudermilk-Collins is G.V.M.H. Staff Member of the Month for May 2009.  Sherry has been an employee of Golden Valley Memorial Hospital since June 1, 1993.  She presently is a Registered Dietitian in Food & Nutrition.

A fellow employee nominated Sherry and had the following to say about her:

“Sherry has worked at GVMH continuously for 16 years.  She readily accepts assignments and covers for other dietitians as needed.  She has taken the job of Outpatient Dietitian and developed it into a position that impacts many patients and employees, including DSSM, Cardiac Rehab, Home Health, and Wellness, and teaching for Schreibers.  Most recently she came up with the idea of the “Cooking College”.  She did most of the contacting and planning involved with this program.  She also has developed the upcoming services to be offered at Warsaw – Nutrition Counseling.

Sherry came up with the Cooking College and developed it mostly on her own.  For the KMOS Kids Fair last year she suggested the gardening activity that we featured.  She pushed ahead to bring Nutrition Counseling to Warsaw.  She worked very hard to create a business plan for her outpatient position.

Courtesy is never lacking with Sherry.  She keeps us all informed, pitches in when needed.  She is truly an ideal team member and always makes us smile when she drops by our office to check in.  As a member of the Benevolence Committee her compassion for others is often to the forefront.

Sherry’s job interfaces with several other areas, so she maintains good working relationships with many other employees.  Home Health feels free to ask her for in-services.  She is always willing to change her teaching schedule to accommodate the other DSSM (Diabetes Skills and Self Management) staff.

Sherry is a loving involved wife, daughter and grandmother.  She has been involved with the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of her father.  She works hard with the community Diabetes walk and diabetes support group and has talked to a TOPS group in Warsaw.  She has trained as a weather watcher and is getting to know more people in the Osceola area through her husband.  I feel Sherry is truly a “10” employee for GVMH.”

In being named Staff Member of the Month, Sherry was given a corsage, a $100.00 gift certificate, and a special parking place for the month.  Her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital.  Sherry is also one of twelve finalists for the 2009-2010 Staff Member of the Year award.

Congratulations, Sherry!
