G.V.M.H. STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Golden Valley Memorial Hospital recently announced that Charlene Wisner is G.V.M.H. Staff Member of the Month for April 2009.  Char has been an employee of Golden Valley Memorial Hospital since April 19, 1982.  She presently is an Accounting Assistant in Data Processing.       

A fellow employee nominated Char and had the following to say about her:

“Charlene has been and is a most valued asset of our GVMH family.  She has been employed with GVMH since 1982.  Through the years she has witnessed many changes, from department locations, policy changes, software changes as well as the many familiar faces that are replaced by new ones.  She has adapted to each and every one of those changes with an open mind and a welcoming attitude.  She is one of the most dependable people I know.  She truly goes above and beyond the call of duty.  Up until the last couple of years she was the ‘only’ payroll clerk and was also the accounts payable clerk.  She never missed a cue.  All her job functions were always completed on time.  At times she would meet herself coming and going until the job was finished.  When we say neither rain, nor sleet, nor hail—we are talking about ‘Char’, not the mailman.  This lady has always had a distance to drive but rarely has missed due to weather.  She never abuses the sick leave.  Char is truly respected by all her peers and is a great inspiration to all who know and love her.  I believe her dedication and length of service is a rare commodity these days.

She has and continues to bend over backwards to lend any employee in any department a helping hand when needed.  Her wholesome attitude towards her working environment and fellow employees overflows to the people she talks to on the phone to the people she may meet in the hallways.

Charlene lost her husband this last year.  Doug was an avid baker and known for his famous peanut clusters and Char continues to carry on that tradition.  People tend to peek in the office to see if today might be the day she brought goodies, “dropping the hint.”  Not only bringing them to work, she still continues to spread them around her community, from donating them for fundraisers as well as donating other food and miscellaneous items as well as very much of her time to any cause that might arise or just giving them to friends and neighbors as a friendly jester.

Char brings in treats and always welcomes anyone to come to the office for her goodies.  She leads by example by showing fellow employees how to treat one another with her positive example, smile and warm character.  She is always lending a hand or ear to anyone in need without hesitation.

Char volunteers in her community when and wherever she might be needed.  She is a very active member in the first Baptist Church of Osceola and an active member in Gideons.  She is a very active member of the Republican Party.  When Char is not busy working, volunteering, or just out and about, she likes spending quiet times at home with her faithful companion ‘Maggie’.”

In being named Staff Member of the Month, Charlene was given a corsage, a $100.00 gift certificate, and a special parking place for the month.  Her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital.  Charlene is also one of twelve finalists for the 2009-2010 Staff Member of the Year award.
