G.V.M.H. STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Golden Valley Memorial Hospital recently announced that Donna Barnett is G.V.M.H. Staff Member of the Month for December 2008. Donna has been an employee of Golden Valley Medical-Clinton since February 2, 2004. She presently is a LPN in Home Care.

A fellow employee nominated Donna and had the following to say about her:

“Donna has worked for GVMH Home Care for nearly five years as a devoted hard-working employee. She has willingly picked up extra work loads when the department has been short staffed and has taken on extra responsibility whenever the help was needed. She takes great care of her patients and goes beyond expectations in making sure their needs are met. Her patients love her and all let us know that nobody can replace Donna!

Donna has been great about re-organizing the department due to staffing changes. She has developed methods of improving staff involvement in aide meetings by arranging to have them at times when they are more available. Donna is always willing to do whatever is needed, even without being asked.

Donna is friendly to patients and co-workers alike. I have never heard a single patient or staff member utter a work of complaint about her. She goes out of her way to brag on staff members and her patients all brag on her excellent care of them.

Donna always has a smile and a friendly word for co-workers. She is a great example to all those who work with her, as nobody puts forth any more effort or works harder than she does. She is great about offering encouraging words to other employees.

Donna has taken the state course to become certified as a home care provider. She is very active in community-involved bike association and fundraisers for St. Jude’s and other charitable organizations. She is also actively involved with her grandchildren.”

In being named Staff Member of the Month, Donna was given a corsage, a $100.00 gift certificate, and a special parking place for the month. Her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital. Donna is also one of twelve finalists for the 2008-2009 Staff Member of the Year award.
