G.V.M.H. STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare recently announced that Ann Maloy is G.V.M.H. Staff Member of the Month for December 2009.  Ann has been an employee of Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare since February 23, 1984.  She presently is a secretary in Home Services.     
            
A fellow employee nominated Ann and had the following to say about her:

“Ann has worked for GVMH Home Services ever since the hospital bought the home health agency in February of 1984, and is the only staff member remaining who has been with the agency the entire time.  She goes above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis, even coming in and working on a holiday to make sure payroll is entered so staff can all be sure to get paid!  She plans her vacation time around payroll periods so she can be here to finish entering staff time. 

Ann is quick to identify areas of need and to volunteer to help other clerical staff who are behind and need assistance.  She is eager to learn new processes and to adapt to changes.  She helps make sure everything runs smoothly and helps notify staff of documentation needs.  She always asks others if there is something she can do when she is caught up on her work.

Ann is always willing to do whatever needs to be done.  Her title is secretary, but her role entails so much more than can ever be covered with a single job title!  She is among the first to help plan efforts to assist her co-workers or plan baby showers or other events.  She helps keep staff informed of changes and always knows how to reach everyone.

Ann is a great team player and is quick to encourage co-workers who are feeling stressed.  In addition to everything else she does for our staff, she also frequently bakes goodies to bring into the staff.  Her cinnamon rolls are legendary among home services staff and always disappear quickly.

Ann has assisted with special events in our department, helping with both planning and hosting our 25th anniversary celebration earlier this year.  She is also dedicated to her family and loves spending time with grandchildren.  She plans great family dinners…and they love her cooking as much as we do!”

In being named Staff Member of the Month, Ann was given a corsage, a $100.00 gift certificate, and a special parking place for the month.  Her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital.  Ann Maloy is also one of twelve finalists for the 2009-2010 Staff Member of the Year award.
