G.V.M.H. STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Golden Valley Memorial Hospital recently announced that Freda M. Goth is G.V.M.H. Staff Member of the Month for January 2008.  Freda has been an employee of Golden Valley Memorial Hospital since July 6th, 1981.  She presently is Certified Surgery Tech in Surgery.

A fellow employee nominated Freda and had the following to say about her:
“Freda is a dependable employee with a long history of employment at GVMH.  She has an extensive knowledge of her job.  Freda can function in all surgical services.  Fellow technicians have learned to go to her for answers.  She has been a preceptor.  She recently helped a fellow technician learn a new technique.  Her teaching skills are pleasant and not overwhelming.  Freda can be counted on to come in for emergency situations when extra help is needed.
Freda’s versatility is one of her best assets.  It’s not unusual to be re-assigned to another surgical procedure at the last moment and she can handle it and give great job performance.  Freda ‘created’ a working drain system for Dr. Rob when the usual system wouldn’t work.  She saved extra cost to the hospital and the patient. Freda strives to be pleasant.  Patients she has worked with have remembered her.  For example, a patient wrote her a letter of thanks for making them feel comfortable in a stressful time.  She is an impressive individual.  She has even given backrubs to employees when they were in pain. Freda is not afraid to remember to say thank you.  She recently demonstrated this when a fellow employee helped her clean instruments.  This is not a new attitude, she likes to share laughter, and she permeates a fun atmosphere as much as possible. Freda takes part in community activities.  She has cooked turkeys and pies for Montrose events.  Freda quietly demonstrates her time to those in need and she never brags, and there are more than likely other generous acts that we do not know about.”

In being named Staff Member of the Month, Freda was given a corsage, a $100.00 gift certificate, and a special parking place for the month.  Her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital.  Freda is also one of twelve finalists for the 2007-2008 Staff Member of the Year award.
