NEWS RELEASE - July 2009

G.V.M.H. STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Golden Valley Memorial Hospital recently announced that Maxine Beavers is the G.V.M.H. Staff Member of the Month for July 2009.  Maxine has been an employee of Golden Valley Memorial Hospital since May 3, 1993.  She presently is an Assistant Head Nurse on the Medical Floor.

A fellow employee nominated Maxine and had the following to say about her:

“She has been employed at Golden Valley since May 3, 1993 and has been on the same floor only in different positions.  She is very loyal and dependable – she comes into work whenever called and stays late when needed.  When things are very hectic, she is always there to help.  One night after several admits, they called Maxine and she came right in to help, as she often does.

Maxine knits baby hats for our infant patients, not only for comfort and care but also for customer service.  She is always willing to help out where needed.  She can function in many roles such as RN, C.N.A., or Unit Secretary.

Maxine often times is seen helping visitors in and out of the bathroom due to it size and lack of accessibility for handicapped persons.  Patients often times compliment Maxine’s courtesy and caring attitude.  Maxine’s sense of humor makes the day brighter.

Maxine gives great contributions to GVMH and co-workers and has through the years.  Maxine teaches State Fair Community College nursing students and many of them have been recruited as employees.  Many students request to be in Maxine’s clinical rotation.

Maxine not only works as a nurse at GVMH, she is also an instructor.  She volunteers and is often asked to call Bingo at a local long-term care facility to ensure the residents a quality of life and entertainment.  She also looks out for the welfare of residents by communicating with their doctors per their request.”

In being named Staff Member of the Month, Maxine was given a corsage, a $100.00 gift certificate, and a special parking place for the month.  Her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital.  Maxine is also one of twelve finalists for the 2009-2010 Staff Member of the Year award.

Congratulations, Maxine!
