NEWS RELEASE - November 2008

Mary Langford

G.V.M.H. STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Golden Valley Memorial Hospital recently announced that Mary Langford is G.V.M.H. Staff Member of the Month for November 2008.  Mary has been continuously employed at Golden Valley Medical-Clinton (formerly Wetzel Clinic) since August 25th, 1980.  She presently is Finance Administrator.

A fellow employee nominated Mary and had the following to say about her:

“Mary has been with the clinic through many changes.  Mary has played a major role through these changes over the years and has served as liaison helping employees understand changes such as benefits.  She has been such a huge help with required paperwork by explaining the numerous changes to staff and making sure everyone had turned in their paperwork for completeness.  Mary is loyal and dependable.

Mary is versatile when it comes to taking her paid hours off.  She has repeatedly scheduled her vacation time so that it does not interfere with her job of turning in Kronos time and she makes sure employees are paid on time.  She is always willing to take the time to help out.  No matter how busy Mary is, she will stop and listen and help.  She gives so much of herself that she may be one of the last to leave for the day in order to complete her own work.

Mary takes time to remember the little things that make so much difference.  She always remembers and asks about others such as employees who have a sick family member, sharing the joy of a happy event such as a new baby, and asking about employees grandchildren—she really cares.

Mary has a positive attitude that is contagious.  When changes are necessary, she explains the changes and the reasons why.  This helps us all to stay positive.  She helped come up with “Business Services Week” this year to recognize her group.  This helps employees to feel they are valued and important.

Mary will offer a room at her church and make all the arrangements for group meetings.  Mary is involved in her church and works with the children at her church.”

In being named Staff Member of the Month, Mary was given a corsage, a $100.00 gift certificate, and a special parking place for the month.  Her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital.  Mary is also one of twelve finalists for the 2008-2009 Staff Member of the Year award.

Congratulations, Mary!
