November 2009 Staff of the Month

G.V.M.H. STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare recently announced that Phyllis Stout is G.V.M.H. Staff Member of the Month for November 2009.  Phyllis has been an employee of Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare since April 19, 1999.  She presently is a Certified Nurses Assistant and a Unit Secretary on the Medical Floor.                 

A fellow employee nominated Phyllis and had the following to say about her:

“Phyllis has been an employee of GVMH for the past ten years.  She is very loyal and dependable.  She seldom calls in and is usually willing to stay and help when asked or come in on her days off.  She is not only able to bounce back and forth between jobs but also works both evening and night shifts.

If Phyllis is working as a C.N.A. on an evening shift and sees that night shift is going to be short of help, she will start night shift’s work for them and try to encourage the rest of the evening shift to do the same.  As Unit Secretary, Phyllis answers lights and helps in any way that is needed when she has time.

Phyllis is always friendly and very polite to everyone.  She is very compassionate towards the patients and takes the time to make sure their needs are met.  If the guys need a shave or the ladies need their hair combed, even if it is in the middle of the night, she is there to do it.

Phyllis is always cheerful and has a great sense of humor.  She loves to help plan birthday celebrations and holiday events for the unit.  She’s always ready to hand out compliments and praise where needed.

Phyllis is a valuable employee of GVMH and a definite team player.”  

In being named Staff Member of the Month, Phyllis was given a corsage, a $100.00 gift certificate, and a special parking place for the month.  Her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital.  Phyllis is also one of twelve finalists for the 2009-2010 Staff Member of the Year award.
