» Free Sports Physicals

It’s that time of year again – time for student athletes to get their sports physicals.  Golden Valley Medical-Clinton will be performing free physicals on Wednesday, August 5, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Student athletes need to contact their school in advance to pick up a physical form.  The physical form needs to be completed prior to the physical on August 5.  Please contact Meredith Cooper at Golden Valley Medical-Clinton, 660-885-8171 for additional information.

» Back to School Fair to be held at the Benson Center

Mid-Day Optimist is teaming up with Henry County CHART (Community Health Assistance Resource Team) to sponsor the Back to School Health and Safety Fair! The fair will be held Tuesday, August 11 from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Benson Convention Center in Clinton. School supplies previously given at the Henry County Library by Mid-Day Optimist will be given at this event instead. A variety of information and screening booths for school age children are available. Transportation from the Library to the Benson Center will be available every 15 minutes. The Next-Generation Jobs program matches motivated young people with interested employers. This program offers a great opportunity to young workers with an interest in health careers. » GVMH Sleep Lab Installs New Equipment
Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare would like to announce that the Sleep Lab recently installed all new computers and amplifiers.  This new equipment will enhance patient testing and provide more detailed patient reports.  Some estimates say that nine percent of all males and four percent of all females in the U.S. have some form of sleep disorder.  Untreated, sleep disorders can greatly affect daytime functioning. more information about the Sleep Lab...
» Big Crowd at the Free Swim Day at Artesian Park!

Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare and the City of Clinton Parks and Recreation teamed up on Friday, July 17, to offer a free swim day at the Artesian Park Pool. As an added treat, free snow cones were provided. Over 400 people came out to swim.  Jettie Bailey BSN, RN, CWON from GVMH Wound and Skin Care department was on hand to educate about sunburn prevention.  GVMH ambulance crew also attended the event.  GVMH would like to thank the Radiology Department and the City of Clinton Park and Rec, for making this event possible.

» GVMH Offers Cooking College at Camelot

Sherry Collins MSRD, LD, CDE, giving a cooking demonstration to residents at Camelot South.

With financial support from the GVMH Foundation, Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare’s Food and Nutrition Services took their “Cooking College: Cooking For Diabetes” to Camelot South.  The participants were taught a healthier approach to meal planning for those who are diabetic or those who may cook for someone who is diabetic.   A big thanks to the Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare Foundation donors for making this education possible.
