Women's Services, We Listen
In celebration of Women’s Health Week, Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) would like to take a moment to share their direction in providing women’s services to the region.
GVMH conducted a phone survey several months ago of several hundred women in Clinton, Warsaw and Windsor. The goal: To find out directly from women what their health care priorities are. GVMH thanks those who were randomly selected to participate for their valuable feedback.
“We are now involved in using these insights to plan women’s services initiatives for the coming year,” says Tammy Woirhaye, director of marketing and public relations. Craig Thompson, assistant administrator/professional services, adds, “We learned what women want, and what we can do to better meet their needs. That’s going to help us set our course of action over the next few months and throughout the year.”
To help GVMH set the course, a Women’s Services Steering Committee has been formed. Nearly twenty women from throughout the region meet every other month to help guide efforts related to women’s services. The goal of the committee is to assist with the design and enhancement of services that will meet the needs of women. The committee has already been involved in making decisions to positively impact services for women.
Continued Growth Ahead
2007 was a year of expansion for women’s services at GVMH. New services include digital mammography in Clinton and Warsaw, additional surgical procedures and expanded treatment options in physical therapy. The women’s services staff includes an OB-GYN and a urologist. “With the availability of these specialty physicians, we can provide a broad range of services to patients,” Thompson says. Women’s services at GVMH will continue to strive to meet and exceed patient expectations. Thompson says, “We’re committed to meeting women’s health care needs and keeping pace with the technology to help us deliver excellent care.” Woirhaye adds, “Through this survey, we hope women feel they have a voice in health care and that we’re listening. It is so vital for us to get feedback from women and structure our services around their needs.”
