GVMH Foundation Receives Grant for Transportation

Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation recently received a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation for $2,500. The grant is part of the Missouri Elderly and Handicapped Transportation Assistance (MEHTAP) Program and provides operating expenses so that GVMH can provide transportation for the elderly and handicapped at a low cost from Warsaw, Windsor, Deepwater or Calhoun.  It is estimated that the grant will enable nearly 2,000 rides to be provided this year to patients. The service is provided through a contract with OATS, that includes a trained and certified driver, and a van equipped for those with physical disabilities.

Transportation is a barrier for many elderly and handicapped. The GVMH Foundation is pleased to receive this funding that will make it easier for individuals to get to appointments and receive medical care when needed.  Transportation is available Monday through Thursday. To schedule a ride to one of our locations call 890-7272.
