GVMH Offers Treatment for Varicose Veins
Approximately 24 million people suffer from varicose veins, in the United States, and must go through the embarrassment of dealing with the quickly spreading condition. Golden Valley Memorial Hospital offers treatment for varicose veins. The Trivex System is a patented and clinically tested. It uses transilluminated powered phlebectotomy. This is, in simpler terms, a technique used with general or light anesthesia that brings “visual varicose vein removal.” This procedure, much like liposuction, allows you to accurately target the vein using an irrigated illuminator while a powered resector quickly ablates it and visually confirms the vein's removal. The Trivex System removes veins through virtually suctioning them out.
Other procedures require multiple incisions, extended procedural times, and possibly repeat surgeries. The advantages of the Trivex System include less pain, reduced incisions by up to 50 - 60%, and improved cosmesis compared to other phlebectomies.
Varicose veins often cause significant symptoms such as aching, heaviness and swelling. Untreated veins may develop complications such as blood clots, skin changes and ulcers. Varicose veins may go from causing embarrassment to causing pain and further trips to the hospital. For more information about the Trivex procedure call 890-8471.
GVMH Treats Spider Veins
Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare is pleased to offer Schlerotherapy for spider veins. The newly developed, clinically tested procedure is available at GVMH in an outpatient setting. It takes traditional sclerotherapy a step further by applying tumescent (meaning making the tissue tight) anesthetic solution with a small pump designed for the procedure.
A standard sclerosing solution is placed in the veins with very tiny needles. This solution causes the veins to scar up and disappear. The injection is very well tolerated by patients because the needles used are the size of a human hair. Special magnifying lenses and polarized light is used so the doctor can see the veins.
In order to make the solution that is injected in the veins work better, another solution made up of saline, lidocaine, and adrenalin is used to compress the veins being treated. This has the effect of isolating the solution in the veins, causing compression, which can lead to better results. Usually treatment can be completed in two outpatient sessions.
Sessions are paid through cash, credit card or care credit. For more information about schlerotherapy or to schedule your free schlerotherapy consult by calling 660-890-8471.
