GVMH Moves Ahead with Hospital Renovations

Above is a rendering of the improvements made to GVMH
Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare has exciting news for its patients and visitors. By the end of the year, GVMH will take on a new look to all who enter. Upon entering the hospital’s front entrance, a newly remodeled, large lobby will greet patients with an easy view of the elevators. A larger gift shop will give patients and visitors a more accessible area with a larger selection of items and a new, more inviting Chapel will be available.
Another major improvement will include the total renovation and reconstruction of the admitting area and waiting areas for both Admitting and Emergency Departments. New admitting booths will allow for added privacy to those coming to the hospital for tests and treatments. The waiting areas will be redesigned for comfort with added space and updated appearance.
The modern, updated look will flow throughout the hospital. All hallways and public areas will receive cosmetic changes. New flooring, paint, ceiling and lighting will create a new look. GVMH will continue with the patient room renovations as well until all rooms are completed.
The most noticeable change to those driving by or up to the main entrance of the hospital will be a new entrance. The design of the new entrance will make it easier for newcomers to find and distinguish from the GVMH Medical Plaza entrance. In addition, a larger canopy will allow for more cars to drop off and pick up in inclement weather conditions.
Renovations are scheduled to begin in July. Total project costs of 2.9 million will be funded through existing cash reserves, which have been designated for hospital capital improvements.
Once renovations begin, pictures will be posted to the GVMH website at www.gvmh.org. You can also become a GVMH Facebook fan to keep up with what is happening at your local hospital – www.facebook.com/youdeserveGVMH.
