Kelsay Receives Missouri Hospital Association Excellence in Governance Award

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Hospital Association has presented a 2010 Excellence in Governance award to Bill Kelsay, board vice chair of Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare in Clinton, Mo., in recognition of his contributions to the health care community.
Kelsay was one of nine board members statewide honored during a June 10 presentation at MHA’s annual Leadership Forum in Lake Ozark, Mo. He has been a member of the Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare Board for 25 years, serving as treasurer from 1999 to 2000. He has served as vice chair since 2000.
“Bill’s level of commitment, participation and dedication has been instrumental in ensuring the continuing success of the hospital,” said Randy Wertz, FACHE, CEO of Golden Valley Memorial Hospital. “The community appreciates and respects his honesty and integrity as a hospital trustee.”
Kelsay also serves as a leader in the community through his work with the Lion’s Club, Urich Baptist Church and Farm Bureau.
Since 1985, MHA’s Excellence in Governance award has been given annually to hospital board members for their dedication to exceptional health care. Award recipients are chosen by MHA’s district council presidents.
Other award recipients include Anne Lock, board chair of Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo.; Stan Schmidt, board secretary of McCune-Brooks Regional Hospital in Carthage, Mo.; Joe Owens, board chair of Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital; Joyce Wood, board chair of Parkland Health Center, with facilities in Bonne Terre and Farmington, Mo.; Clay Logan, board chair of Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana, Mo.; Tom Minogue, board secretary of Ranken Jordan – A Pediatric Specialty Hospital in Maryland Heights, Mo.; Hugh Corry, board president of St. John’s Hospital - Lebanon; and Tom Brown, board chair of St. Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
The Missouri Hospital Association is a not-for-profit association in Jefferson City that represents 153 Missouri hospitals. In addition to representation and advocacy on behalf of its members, the association offers continuing education programs on current health topics and seeks to educate the public, as well as legislative representatives, about health care issues.
