GVMH Home Services Celebrates November as National Home Care Month

More than 11 million Americans receive home-delivered health care from home health care providers.  In their honor, GVMH Home Services joins the National Association for Home Care & Hospice in celebrating November as National Home Care Month under the theme, “Love in Action.”

“Caring for the sick, elderly and dying in their homes is truly a privilege for us,” said Cheryl Foster, Director of GVMH Home Services.  “Home care professionals and modern medicine make it possible for people to stay in their homes, regardless of their condition.”

GVMH Home Services kicked off National Home Care Month with Mayor Gus Wetzel on Monday, November 2 at the hospital boardroom, when he issued a National Home Care Month proclamation.

Through technological advances, home delivered health care has grown far beyond basic professional nursing and home care aide services.  Today’s modern home care agency offers a wealth of nursing, physical, occupational, and speech therapies, counseling, dietary, laboratory, and personal care.

Home care services are paid for by public and private sources, or directly by patients and their families.  Third party payers include commercial insurance, managed care organizations, and workers’ compensation.  Medicare and state-run Medicaid are significant payers, often driving the payment agenda for commercial insurance.  Despite massive cutbacks in government funding, home care continues to be the preferred means of receiving quality health care services for millions of Americans.

GVMH Home Services was founded in 1984 to provide comprehensive in-home health and supportive services for Clinton and the surrounding area’s disabled and ill patients and their families.  Its care giving team offers services ranging from basic assistance with daily living to advanced medical treatment.  For more information, contact Cheryl Foster, RN, BSN, HCS-D at 660-885-5088.
