Nurses Being Saluted This Week Across the US
Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare is joining the American Nurses Association in celebrating National Nurses Week, which is held May 6-12, every year. The purpose is to raise awareness of the value of nursing and help educate the public about the role nurses play in meeting the health care needs of the American people.
In honor of the dedication, commitment, and tireless effort of the nearly 2.9 million registered nurses nationwide to promote and maintain the health of this nation, the ANA and GVMH are proud to recognize registered nurses everywhere on this particular day for the quality work they provide seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Throughout the week, nursing staff at GVMH will enjoy several events to recognize the hard work they do. In addition to the nurses enjoying dessert tasting, ice cream socials and mini massages, they hosted Jump-Rope-To-Stethoscope. On May 5th, local 6th graders were given an opportunity to shadow a nurse and tour the hospital. Those who entered the hospital on May 5th may have noticed the white caps of the past since some of the nursing staff wore their white uniforms and caps for White Uniform and Cap Day. The Zeta Gilvin Scholarship presentation and Excellence in Clinical Nursing Practice awards will be presented this week at the Nursing Tea and Awards Banquet. Concluding the week, the nursing department will host a hog roast for the entire staff at GVMH.
In honor of National RN Recognition Day, all registered nurses in America are encouraged to proudly wear the official ANA "RN" pin or any other pin that clearly identifies them as registered nurses, or their nurses uniform.
