NUTRITION & DIETETICS SERVICES


GVMH is please to offer hotel-style room service to our patients.  Our patients love it!  Adequate nutrition is essential for a patient's treatment and recovery.  Room service hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Breakfast is available anytime during these hours.  Patient's eat better when they can order what they want to eat and when they want it delivered.  We offer a wide variety of modified diets and textures that are personally prescribed by the patient's physician.  Our trained call center staff are friendly and able to work with you to meet your special needs.  When you call, inform them of any food allergies, intolerances, or special needs.   The hospital auxilary provide a beverage service, Monday through Friday evenings.  For late-night munchies, patients can request comfort foods such as pudding, ice cream, sherbet, gelatin, cereal, Campbell's chicken noodle or tomato soup and crackers.  A  licensed, registered dietitian is also available to answer questions about food, diet or possible food-drug interactions.  For indepth nutrition therapy/counseling, referral to our outpatient dietitian is recommended. Our Cafe, located on the ground floor, is open Monday through Friday for breakfast, lunch, and supper.  The Cafe menu and hours are posted outside the cafe entrance or you may call extension 6011 from the patient's room phone to hear a pre-recorded message.  A variety of hot and cold foods are available for grab 'n go or you may choose from a hot steamtable meal or grill/fryer foods cooked-to-order.  Snacks and beverages are also available.  Debit cards, VISA and MasterCard are accepted.  For your convenience, vending services are located throughout the hospital and feature hot and cold drinks, chips, candy and packaged meals.

Guests may also choose to purchase foods from the patient's room service menu. Directions are found on the front of the menu. For parents staying with a child, fifteen years or younger, one free room service tray is provided per meal.
