Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab in Warsaw

Golden Valley Memorial Hospital added a Rehab and Wellness Center in Warsaw at the new Golden Valley Medical – Warsaw location. On December 4, the Center will begin a new service, cardiac and pulmonary rehab. The program will be directed by Dr. Zubair Khan, a board certified cardiologist, along with Megan Cunningham, RN, BSN. Residents of Warsaw and surrounding communities will have the option to receive needed cardiac and pulmonary rehab, close to home.
Cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation is for patients who have had a heart attack, coronary stenting, bypass surgery, valve replacement, stable angina, and heart or lung transplant. In addition to medically supervised exercise, the program provides information to help make the lifestyle changes necessary for heart health, including: cardiac risk modification, stress management, heart healthy nutrition, smoking cessation classes, and medication education.
According to the American Heart Association, 71.3 million Americans are living with some type of cardiovascular disease. Research has shown that the average cardiac death was 26 percent lower in rehabilitation patients who were exercise trained compared to those who received no trained care. Less than 20 percent of the two million people who should be participating in cardiac rehabilitation are doing so. This puts them at a much higher risk of a recurrent heart complication.
If you have been diagnosed with a cardiac condition, you may be eligible for cardiac rehabilitation. Cardiac and pulmonary rehab are approved for reimbursement by Medicare and most insurance companies.
