2008 Auxiliary Awards Luncheon

The GVMH Board of Directors were hosts Wednesday, April 9, at the 33rd
Annual Awards Luncheon for the GVMH Auxiliary held at the United Methodist
Church of Clinton. The Auxiliary Chairperson for the event was Annette Meyers. Mary Jo Cable and her committee from the Methodist Church prepared and served the delicious meal.

Randy Wertz, CEO, GVMH, welcomed the group and gave a few brief comments on the Auxiliary and their support of the hospital.   Reverend Durward Scott gave a beautiful invocation and the meal was served.

After lunch, Pam Crump, Director of Volunteer Services, thanked the GVMH
Board of Directors for hosting the luncheon, Randy for his support of the Auxiliary and Mary Jo and her committee for the delicious meal they prepared and served.

Linda Sites, Auxiliary President, gave a brief summary of the year’s events and
thanked everyone for their help. Linda did a fantastic job as Auxiliary President.
Linda Sites and Pam Crump presented Randy a check for $20,000 from the Auxiliary. Randy graciously accepted the check and thanked the Auxiliary for their  support.

Ranae Walrath, Scholarship Chairperson, awarded scholarships to the following: Mary Young, Donna Moreland, Ashley Lasswell, Dillon Mothersbaugh and Micah Charles

Pam Crump and Virginia Graham presented hours of Service Awards. Special recognition was given to Sallie Steuart for representing the GVMH Auxiliary on the MAHA Board for the last four years. Sallie has worked very hard in support of issues that positively effect the local Auxiliary.  Pat Kampmann was recognized for her commitment to the Auxiliary through serving on various boards, committees and always making herself available to work for others whenever and wherever needed.

The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Helen Hail. Helen was chosen by a silent committee of her peers. She was described as a “Go-Getter” and a person who approaches every project with a very positive attitude. She was Ways  and Means Chairperson last year, upcoming President this year and is serving as Co-chair on the Annual Auxiliary Golf Tournament that takes place on May 3 at Clinton Country Club.

The Nominating Committee Chairperson, Linda Sites, presented the slate of officers. The officers were accepted by acclamation. Past President Lena Rains installed the new officers. The new officers are:  President, Helen Hail; Vice President, Sallie Steuart ; Secretary, Pat Brown; Treasurer, Linda Brooks and Assistant Treasurer, Jim Theis. The new three-year board member is Linda Sites.  Helen Hail, incoming Auxiliary President, gave a brief report on her leadership plan for the Auxiliary in 2008-2009.

Pam and Virginia distributed the door prizes and Pam closed with the following: “Those who are not looking for happiness are the most likely to find it, because those who are searching forget that the surest way to be happy is to seek happiness for others.”  Martin Luther King, Jr.
