Dr. James and JoAnn Bourland Recognized for Donation to Cancer Care in Clinton

Clinton, MO. – (March 9, 2023) – On Saturday, March 4, the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation hosted its annual gala and recognized Dr. James and JoAnn Bourland for their donation to bring cancer care to Clinton.

“For the past year, we have worked tirelessly to bring a radiation oncology center to Clinton,” said Sarah Duncan, Foundation Director. “This center will allow patients to get expert care in a state-of-the art facility, see familiar specialists and staff, and help relieve the anxiety and physical challenge of traveling miles away to receive treatment. We are very excited as construction is underway and we plan to open the doors for patients later this year.”

“Throughout the campaign, I have been humbled by the generosity of our communities. The support has been astounding and I am very proud to be surrounded by such caring, gracious and giving people. During our efforts, the Bourland’s stepped forward to provide the most significant gift ever donated to the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation to help us establish the new radiation oncology center and offer comprehensive cancer care in Clinton,” said Duncan.

The Bourland’s donated $2.5 million. They want to help others and honor their friends, Debbie Mitchel and Kay Miller. In recognition of their contribution, the new Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare radiation oncology center and the existing cancer center will be named after the Bourland’s.

“Thank you Dr. James and JoAnn Bourland and everyone that has contributed to our efforts to bring radiation oncology to Clinton, said Craig Thompson, CEO at GVMH. “We truly appreciate your generosity and support.”
