Clinton, Mo. – (October 1, 2026) – Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare is encouraging the communities it serves to Live Gold. Fight Bold. this October as part of a month-long cancer awareness campaign focused on prevention, early detection, treatment and honoring those impacted by cancer.
The Live Gold. Fight Bold. campaign highlights GVMH’s comprehensive cancer care services, including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, giving patients access to cancer treatment closer to home. Backed by experienced specialists, leading technology and a dedicated team focused on the whole patient, GVMH is committed to guiding patients and families through every step of the cancer journey.
“Facing cancer is difficult enough without the added burden of traveling long distances for care,” said Rachel Boyles, Chief Ancillary Officer. “At GVMH, patients have access to cancer services right here at home. From diagnosis through treatment and survivorship, our expert team provides personalized care, advanced treatment options and support every step of the way.”
Throughout October, GVMH employees will help raise awareness by wearing specially designed Live Gold. Fight Bold. t-shirts as a visible show of support for cancer patients, survivors and families affected by cancer.
Businesses and community members will also have an opportunity to participate through a special fundraiser at the GVMH Bistro, located in the Outpatient Treatment Center lobby. During the campaign, guests who purchase the featured drink special will receive a card to honor a loved one currently fighting cancer, celebrate a survivor or remember someone lost to the disease. These cards may be displayed on commemorative memory walls, creating a powerful visual tribute to the many lives touched by cancer. A portion of each drink purchase will be donated to the Cancer Care Closet at the Bourland Cancer Center, with donations matched by the GVMH Foundation, doubling the impact for local patients in need.
The Cancer Care Closet helps provide practical support for patients undergoing treatment, offering resources that ease financial and personal burdens during a challenging time.
In addition to raising awareness, GVMH is encouraging individuals to prioritize cancer screenings, which remain one of the most effective tools for early detection and improved outcomes. Breast cancer screening is now more convenient than ever through GVMH’s Mobile Mammography program. Supporting the Clinton Imaging Department, the Mobile Mammo unit provides access to advanced 3D mammography services at clinics in Clinton, Osceola, Warsaw and Windsor, making it easier for women to receive recommended screenings close to home.
“Early detection saves lives,” said Boyles. “Screening can help identify cancer earlier, when treatment is often most effective. Whether it’s scheduling a mammogram, talking with your provider about recommended screenings or addressing a health concern you’ve been putting off, taking that first step can make all the difference.”
