Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare to Open Specialty Pharmacy

Clinton, MO – (October 13 2026) – Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) will open a Specialty Pharmacy on Monday, October 19, 2026, expanding access to specialty medications closer to home and helping reduce healthcare costs for GVMH employees enrolled in the organization’s health plan.

The Golden Valley Specialty Pharmacy will focus on medications used to treat complex or chronic health conditions. Many of these prescriptions are not readily available through traditional retail pharmacies and are often filled by specialty pharmacies outside the region. The new service will also help connect eligible patients with assistance programs to reduce the cost of their medications. The pharmacy team will work closely with patients, providers and insurance companies to coordinate prescriptions, answer questions and provide support throughout the process.

“This is a win for our patients, our employees and our communities,” said Craig Thompson, CEO of GVMH. “The Golden Valley Specialty Pharmacy expands access to specialty medications closer to home while providing personalized support from a care team patients know and trust. It will also help eligible patients access programs that make these medications more affordable and strengthen services that benefit both our patients and employees. GVMH recognizes the important role that area retail pharmacies play in the health of our communities and is not entering this space to compete with them. Instead, this service complements existing pharmacy offerings by providing specialty medications and support that may not otherwise be available locally.”

The Golden Valley Specialty Pharmacy will be led by Trevor Elwell, PharmD, Registered Pharmacist, and will be located at 1617 N. 2nd Street in Clinton, in the former GVMH Home Health building. The pharmacy will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Prescriptions will be available for pickup at the pharmacy or delivered directly to patients by mail.
