Earlene Pipes

Executive Director of Nursing Services

Earlene Pipes is an experienced and results-driven healthcare leader with a passion for delivering high-quality patient care and optimizing hospital operations. With a strong background in nursing and hospital management, she has played a key role in ensuring safe staffing ratios, improving departmental efficiency and enhancing patient outcomes.

As the Executive Director of Nursing Services, Pipes leads nursing initiatives, drives nursing regulatory readiness, directs key committees and projects, and serves as departmental leadership for the House Supervisors. She is dedicated to increasing collaboration across the organization, fostering a culture of excellence and implementing improvements that enhance both staff and patient experiences.

Prior to her current role, Pipes served as Director of Med/Surg and ICU, House Supervisor and Charge Nurse at GVMH, where she was instrumental in managing hospital units based on acuity, coordinating staffing across departments, and assisting with admissions, discharges and patient concerns. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she demonstrated strong leadership by managing surge areas, overseeing patient flow and ensuring safe care practices.

She has led several key initiatives at GVMH, including the relaunch of the Patient Call Manager system, the integration of new IV pump technology — improving medication safety and reducing costs — and the completion of an ICU remodel, where she was actively involved in design, construction and transition planning.

Pipes earned her Associate of Nursing degree from State Fair Community College and is currently completing her Bachelor of Nursing degree.
