Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare Offers Pfizer COVID-19 Booster Vaccine Clinic

Clinton, Mo. – (Sept. 30, 2021) – Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) will be offering a Pfizer COVID-19 booster vaccine clinic at its Outpatient Treatment Center on October 12 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) recommends that individuals who initially received the Pfizer vaccine that are 65 years of age and older, as well as residents in long-term care settings and individuals 50-64 years of age with underlying medical conditions receive a booster shot of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, individuals 18-64 years of age that face high risk of exposure to COVID-19 due to their occupation are also eligible.

To schedule an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine, call 660.890.7300. Please bring your vaccine card to the appointment.

To get the vaccine, you must have completed your second Pfizer shot at least six months ago.

“A lot of people have been asking about the difference between a booster dose and an additional dose,” said Christine Faulconer, Director of Quality and Risk. “Sometimes people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised do not build up enough protection when they first get a vaccination. When this happens, getting another dose of the vaccine can help them build more protection against the virus. The booster dose refers to another dose of a vaccine that is given to someone who built enough protection after vaccination, but that protection has decreased over time.”

Recommendations of next steps for individuals that received the Moderna and J&J COVID-19 vaccines should be coming soon.
