Patient Advocates

If you feel lost, confused or overwhelmed at any point during your treatment and survivorship, patient advocates listen to your concerns and find answers to your questions. Their goal is to make your overall experience as easy and stress-free as possible.

Nurse Navigators

Nurse navigators work with you and your family members throughout your journey. From the initial diagnosis, nurse navigators guide you through appointments, gather medical records, order tests and schedule treatments. They are available to answer questions and address your concerns.

myGVMH Portal

The myGVMH Health Portal is an online, secure patient tool that helps you better manage your care and improve your overall healthcare experience. 

The Portal can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year from any device with an internet connection. Among its many valuable uses, it allows you to:

  • Review your health record
  • Check your test results
  • See your current medications 
  • Renew a prescription
  • Schedule an appointment or virtual visit
  • View your upcoming appointments
  • Send messages to your provider
  • Review your billing

Social Workers

The routine of life goes on, even after a cancer diagnosis. If you need government or other outside assistance, our social workers will meet with you privately to evaluate your needs and connect you with resources. They act as an advocate for you, providing information about lodging, transportation and home care services, as well as financial and medication assistance programs. They can also help you with applications for Social Security Disability and Medicaid and refer you to community resources.

Mental Health Counseling

Our licensed mental health counselors can help you adjust to the fear and uncertainty that may accompany a cancer diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. They can provide compassionate therapy to help you address the emotions that may affect you and your family and other caregivers.

Spiritual Support

Our spiritual care team is available to every patient, family member and visitor. They offer pastoral counseling, prayer and worship services.

Financial Counselors

Our financial counselors will work with you to review your insurance benefits and deductibles prior to treatment. They can assist with payment plans, coinsurance, copay and free medication. They are also available to help answer any billing questions you may have.

Nutritional Support

Fighting cancer takes extra strength. Experienced dietitians offer individualized nutritional consulting with a focus on helping you achieve optimal nutrition. Goals include:

  • Maintaining muscle mass
  • Minimizing complications and side effects
  • Promoting healing
  • Treating nutritional deficiencies

Physical and Occupational Therapy

Our Therapy Services team will help you manage any physical complications of your condition and treatments by helping you improve your functional abilities, alleviate pain, minimize fatigue and improve your overall quality of life.

Rehabilitation options include the use of assistive devices, orthotics and prosthetics, as well as joint and soft-tissue pain injections, mobility exercises and patient education.

Your cancer team can also work with you to create a safe and appropriate exercise plan to build muscle strength and ease side effects such as fatigue, anxiety and depression.

Personal Appearance Services

Located inside the Bourland Cancer Center at our Main Campus, our Care Closet is dedicated to helping cancer patients overcome appearance obstacles with dignity and style. Services include bra and wig fittings. The Care Closet also provides breast forms, post-surgery bras and camisoles, as well as a wide assortment of clothing and accessories.

Some prescribed items may be provided at no charge through our GVMH Foundation for the uninsured and underinsured.

Home Health Services

To minimize the trauma of your treatment program, our Home Health Services teams helps provide the necessary assistance for you to receive treatment and recover in the privacy, comfort and security of your own home.
