Therapy Services

Improved quality of life and functional ability are our Golden Standard of Care.

Get back to your best self with care from the expert providers at Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH). Our specialists deliver our Golden Standard of Care with treatment programs specifically designed to address the unique needs of our patients.

We provide physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology and an array of other specialized rehabilitative services proven to recover your quality of life and functional ability.

Physical Therapy

The physical therapists (PTs) at GVMH teach you how to prevent or manage your condition and achieve the long-term health benefits you desire:

  • Restore movement
  • Reduce pain
  • Prevent disability

We believe that personalized care is the key to achieving the outcomes you desire. That is why our PTs take the time to conduct a thorough examination and create a specialized treatment plan. Each plan uses a combination of treatment techniques that promote your ability to move, reduce pain, restore function and prevent disability. Additionally, our goal is to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs with fitness- and wellness-oriented programs that promote healthier and more active lifestyles.

What kinds of conditions or injuries does PT improve?

We offer a number of specialized therapy services that address your specific injury or needs including:

  • Chronic neck, back and joint pain
  • Concussions
  • Dizziness, balance and other vestibular disorders
  • Generalized weakness
  • Headaches
  • Lymphedema
  • Parkinson’s disease (with LSVT BIG therapy)
  • Post-surgical needs including total joint replacement
  • Stroke
  • Women’s health including incontinence and pelvic pain

Speech Therapy

At GVMH, our speech language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat patients with a wide range of difficulties involving speech. Our team provides the Golden Standard of Care treating patients with conditions including:

  • Cognitive-communication disorders: When a person has problems organizing thoughts, paying attention, remembering, planning and/or problem solving.
  • Language disorders: When a person has difficulty understanding others or sharing thoughts, ideas and feelings.
  • Social communication disorders: When a person has trouble with the social use of verbal and nonverbal communication.
  • Speech disorders: When a person has difficulty producing speech sounds correctly.
  • Swallowing disorders: When a person has feeding or swallowing difficulties, which may follow an illness, surgery, stroke or injury.

Occupational Therapy

The occupational therapists at GVMH help people participate in the things they want and need to do throughout their lives. Our team specializes in the therapeutic use of everyday activities (occupations) and common occupational therapy interventions, which help — for example — children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations, people recover from injury to regain skills or provide support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes.

You will achieve your therapeutic goals through the methodic use of adaptive equipment, behavioral modification strategies, custom splinting, developmental training, and fine motor skills and work conditioning.

Specialty Rehabilitation Services

We provide a variety of additional outpatient specialty services to help you improve your functional abilities. These specialty services include:

  • Aquatic therapy for patients experiencing chronic pain, or limited weight bearing or mobility
  • Custom orthotics and splinting
  • Hand therapy
  • Pediatric therapy
  • Pre-employment physical capacity testing (not discipline specific)
