Complete Cancer Care

Cancer treatment today often involves a combination of the most effective tools for treating the disease: surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare brings world class cancer treatment in all three areas significantly closer to our communities, enabling you to conveniently complete a treatment program without unnecessary driving.

Our expert oncologists offer care equal to that of major medical centers in a variety of cancers, including:

  • Bladder
  • Bone
  • Brain
  • Breast
  • Endometrial
  • Esophagus
  • Gastrointestinal
  • Head and Neck
  • Liver
  • Lung
  • Prostate
  • Rectum
  • Skin
  • Spine
  • Stomach

Surgery

Surgical oncology utilizes surgery to diagnose and treat cancer, and to manage some cancer-related symptoms. Skilled and experienced GVMH physicians and clinicians combine surgery with chemotherapy and radiation to create a unique and comprehensive treatment plan for each patient.

Whether you are a candidate for surgery will depend on the type, size, location, grade and stage of the tumor, as well as general health factors including your age, physical fitness and any coexisting medical conditions you may have. Learn more about our Surgical Services.

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is a key strategy in the battle against cancer in part because it attacks cancer cells that can be detected but cannot be removed through surgery or radiation. Chemotherapy is now able to target tumors more precisely, and modern advances in care help ease chemo side effects.

Our specialists in oncology and hematology customize your treatment plan based on the latest advances in chemotherapy. Your plan may involve infusion, injection or oral administration of the formulation your providers recommend, but it will always be administered by a nursing specialist in oncology. Radiation

The new Bourland Radiation Oncology Center features one of the most advanced medical linear accelerator suites available today. The Varian Medical Systems TrueBeam Linear Accelerator system provides the state of the art in high precision, image-guided radiotherapy to treat tumors wherever they are found in the body.

Our linear accelerator suite also features a unique Skylite™ in-ceiling video wall to help relax patients with calming videos and images during radiation treatments.

Locations

The Bourland Cancer Center is located at our main campus at 1600 N. Second Street. We recommend patients use our Outpatient Treatment Center entrance, marked “O,” and take the elevator to the second floor.

For radiation oncology treatment, patients should go to our new Bourland Radiation Oncology Center at 501 E. Oakstar Drive. It is located directly across the highway from our main campus, between OakStar Bank and Everharts.

Closer Care is Better Care

GVMH Oncology Services enables access to the three primary treatments used today: surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Your treatment program includes cancer specialists in all three areas, utilizing some of the most advanced medical and radiation technology available in the world today.

A diagnosis of cancer can be frightening. It is important to have a network of trusted caregivers in a familiar setting, nearby to the ones you love. At GVMH, we call it part of the Golden Standard of Cancer Care.

And now it is closer than ever.
